Matt Clement's
R/C FMS Airplane and Helicopter Interface

(*actual cable may look different* I reserve the right to deny sales to anyone for any reason.
These cables are NOT for resale anyone caught distributing my cables will face legal action.)
Have you ever wanted to try flying a remote control
plane or helicopter? Well now its as easy as it gets. If you don't already have a transmitter, then order a buddy box for
$30 and buy this cable and you can try flying remote control
planes
and helicopters on your computer!! This cable is made to connect between a remote control transmitter and the parallel or serial port (depending on which one you
order) of a personal computer. With the included software you can fly several different planes/helicopters in several different landscapes. And if you become bored with the included models you can design your own or download more models than you'll ever need.
It uses
a free flight simulator called FMS (this software can be found online).
This software is not as fancy as the other commercial packages, but then you
aren't paying $300 for it either. It is very realistic and will help you
learn the basics of RC flight. Its also great for practicing new manuevers
without risking damage to you plane or helicopter.
The parallel cable will ONLY work with windows 95/98/ME.. Instead of the parallel port connector you can also have the Windows 95/98/ME cable made with a serial connection but the serial cable version requires the newer serial port
chip on the motherboard (166550A uart).
I make cables for the newer 6pin Hitec
and Futaba controllers as well as the older 5pin Futaba FM models. I also sell cables for the 5pin
Airtronics rd6000 series transmitters. In order for the interface to work, the
transmitter has to be able to be set to PPM mode and NOT PCM mode.
Every cable I sell is built and then tested (for usually an hour..haha) before being shipped out. The cost of the cable is only
shipped!! That is almost
$10.00 cheaper than the cheapest commercially made cable available online.
buy a cable now and start the fun.
Here are a few screenshots of the FMS software. note: you are not paying for the
software, it is included for free with the cable. New landscapes and
planes are available for download online. You can even design planes to
use with this software. I include several of my favorite planes on the
included cd-rom such as:
Atlantis2
B-2 bomber
B-747
Concorde
Corsair
DC-9
EF-2000
F-14 tomcat
Mig 29
Spitfire
and of course the P-51 mustang!!
These planes are in addition to the standard set of planes and helicopters which include:

Here is what people are saying about my cables:
matt:
First of all, I've enjoyed watching you "grow" your business from the
beginning. You've done a great job, treat people very well and offer a quality
product for an excellent price.
It's great to see a college student who has such great focus and initiative. I'm
quite sure you'll have a very successful career in the Engineering field. It's
been an interesting and lucrative field for me for over 25 years. It's still a
fun career for me after all these years. Almost as much fun as flying!
Your website
is very well done! Logical, easy to navigate and very professional looking. Did
you do that too? I'm impressed! As soon as I exit Ezone I'll be placing an
order!
Keep up the good work - you're doing a GREAT job!
Yup!
I've made 1/2 a dozen, and I have had problems most of the time, even though I
do this stuff fo a living.... If you don't know what you're doing, it's
frustrating!
The price is right, support the poor college student!
Good Luck.
I bought the
cable from Matt. It took only 3 days to get it. Mine was for a Futaba radio. It
works as advertised -- Great! FMS is a good simulator with a lot of planes
available. Installation was very easy and you don't have to keep inserting the
cd when you want to fly (like Realflight G2 or the cd version of Cockpit
Master!).

OK!
I got my FMS cable adapter for Futaba along with a cd with the FMS program on it
less than a hour ago. Delivery took only 3 days via UPS Priority Mail. It took
less than 15 minutes to install and calibrate (my transmitter is a Futaba 8UAF).
I'm having a blast with this simulator. Initially I had to correct a throttle
and rudder channel assignment and reverse several channels -- it was easy to do
and took less than 5 minutes. I also have Real Flight G2 and Cockpit Master and
Backyard Editions. This was easier to
install and get working properly than any of those. And you don't have to keep
inserting the program cd when you want to fly!The quality of the
"cable" setup is very good and it is working flawlessly for me. Given
the number of planes and flying environments available for FMS and the high
quality of the FMS screen visuals, I HIGHLY recommend buying this setup from clement.24@osu.edu.
The price is right and it works great!

Thanks for making this cable available to Ezoners at such a reasonable price.
Most of us probably wanted to try FMS but felt uncomfortable with the idea of
having to solder up a cable and taking the risk that it might not work or
messing with keyboard control. We don't even have to download the latest copy of
FMS, it is provided on a cd for free with the cable adapter! Now we have no
excuse!
Best regards,
My cable and CD arrived
Christmas eve and works fine. Good quality and excellent service!
Thanks Matt and Merry Christmas.

Matt --
I just wanted to close the loop on the flight simulator cable -- It got
here very fast and works great. I think I actually had it before christmas but I
had to download a newer DirectX to use the simulator. (You may want to think
about including DirectX 7.? or 8.1 on the CD... I had to wait till I got back to
work to be able to download its 14MB bulk and transferred it to my computer on a
9-disk zip file.)
After we emailed, I couldn't find your ad, so I sent what I remembered the price
to be -- was the money order amount right?
I just saw a guy on my RCO forum looking for cables so I replied with your
email address (and an endorsement of your cable -- I'm very happy with it) and a
site with the how-to in case the wants to go that way. (I wanted to build my
own, but after I didn't get around to it for a year or more, I was glad to buy
it from you instead.)
!!end quote!
Got mine too.
Works great! Nice to be
able to fly on the pc with my RD6000 instead of a joystick!
Thanks again!

FMS Cable
I received my cable on
Saturday and immediately loaded the software. Plugged in my Futuba Skysport 6
and away I went. Matt, your cable works great. I always wanted a flight sim but
didn't want to spend the big bucks. I'm telling you guys for \\$21 shipped to the
door you can't beat this deal.Matt also included extra airplanes which I
unzipped and also enjoyed flying. My son was using it this afternoon and he
thought it was fun also. Thanks a lot for the enjoyment. Winter in Wisconsin
might go faster now, plus the transmitter batteries will get some cycles on
them.
Thanks Again
